The fashion industry’s monthly Bible has to be Vogue magazine. The magazine contains articles mostly about fashion (more specifically haute couture), beauty and lifestyle. It was already founded in 1892 in the USA by an American businessman, Arthur Baldwin Turner and was published first as a weekly newspaper. In 1905 the magazine was bought by Condé Nast.

Vogue has spread from the USA and today it is published in the United States, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Greece, Portugal, the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Slovakia, Turkey, Russia, Australia, Brazil, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, China, India, Thailand and Arabia.

From 1988 the editor in chief for Vogue is Anna Wintour. She was born in 1949 in London. Her career started at Harper’s Bazaar and then in she changed to British Vogue in 1986. She wears her signature look, the bob haircut since she was 15 years old and she is rare to be seen without sunglasses.
Time Magazine claims ‘Runway shows don’t start until she arrives. Designers succeed because she anoints them. Trend are created or crippled on her command.’ Today she is the most influential woman in the fashion industry and is the curator of the Metropolitan Museum of New York so she organizes the MET Gala every year. The First Monday in May documentaey captures how the event is organized.
She supported and raised today’s famous John Galliano and Michael Kors. She declared the magazine’s main goal: ‘Vogue is the best of evrything that fashion can offer and I think we point the way. We are, you know, a glamourous girlfriend.’

Vogue’s photographers include Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino and Helmut Newton.

Anna Wintour’s former assistant, Lauren Weisberger wrote the famous The Devil wears Prada novel. People often compare Anna Wintour to Meryl Streep’s character in the movie. She attended the premier and wore Prada.
Today there are special editions of Vogue such as Teen Vogue and Men’s Vogue.
Fashion designer, Vera Wang started as an assistant at Vogue.
Alexander Wang and Joan Didion also used to work for Vogue.
The largest edition of Vogue weighs 4.5 pounds and has 916 pages in September 2012.
