Not many people knows about this but perfumes were already used in the ancient Egypt. We Hungarians took part as well in the making process because it was us who used scented oils mixed with alcohol solutions first. Then of course the French people made an industry of perfume making in the 17th century. That time people didn’t take baths very often so they used perfumes to cover their body smell. The world’s most famous perfumes are the 4711 made by Mäurer & Wirtz and Chanel No. 5, the scent that was personally chosen by Gabrielle Chanel. Now let’s move on to some useful details about perfumes.
Who are ‘the noses’?
They are people who have exquisite smell and work to create new perfumes.
What is the difference between eau de toilette and eau de parfum?
Eaut de toilette contains maximum 10 percent of aromatic compounds while eau de parfum contains up to 20 percent. So all together you can use more amount of eau de toilette.
How to choose your scent?
I think you should take time when it comes to choosing your scent, because it will become a signature, a part of your personal style. While our noses get tired very easily, don’t be ashamed to go back to a store multiple times.
Don’t sprinkle the perfume on the test papers. It smells different when it is directly sprayed on your skin.
Don’t change your perfumes very often, maximum 2 bottles are enough. A lighter smell for spring and summer and a stronger or sweeter smell for autumn and winter will be enough.
Behind the ears and the inside of the wrists are the places you should spray your fragrance.
Here are the perfumes I tried throughout the years and I really admired:
Emma Watson was the face of Lancôme‘s Trésor Mindnight Rose in 2011. She once said in an interview that this scent reminded her a lot of Paris where she was born.
Nina by Nina Ricci became a very iconic fragrance with its apple shaped glass.
I really like the Christina Aguilera perfumes, Insprie is my favourite one.
It has been my dream for a long time to own a Chloé perfume and last year I bought one in Austria. The ad features Harry Potter’s Fleur Delacour, Clémence Poésy.
And this is the fragrance I currently use from Versace:
My most favourite perfume of all is Burberry‘s Brit Sheer, but I couldn’t find the commercial video of it. 😦
